The smoke of burning cedar attracts good spirits and eliminates negative energies. \nCedar is also one of the four sacred plants of the indigenous American Indian Medicine Wheel and represents the Southern direction. The other plants contained in the Medicine Wheel are white sage representing the West\, sweetgrass representing the North\, and tobacco representing the East.

Recently\, and with the help of Urban Roots\, we’ve been able to secure a space on the Rivoli Bluffs to start an urban community medicine garden created by and for Native people. We dream of this garden to be a safe space for community to come pray\, harvest\, and gather with each other and the land in a good way. \nWe’ll be planting medicines like sage\, sweetgrass\, chokecherry\, red willow\, yarrow\, wild strawberry\, bee balm\, and many more!
